New music from Doug and Dave

Fun, festive and faith-filled, “Called,” the debut album from Doug and Dave, hits the soul with powerful, driven beats, heavy harmonies and faith-in-action lyrics that encourage listeners to live out their spiritual call.

“We hope these songs empower an attitude of service and thinking beyond ourselves,” said Doug Brummel, who recently teamed up with Dave Wilson to write, record and perform the music. “We are all called by God to be Christ for the world.”

The six-song EP was recorded at Yackland Studio in Nashville with Stephen Leiweke, an award-winning producer who has worked with numerous Christian recording artists, such as Chris Tomlin, Lauren Daigle, Matt Maher and Michael W. Smith, among others.

In addition to hitting the studio in 2019, Doug and Dave have hit the road hard this year, taking their original music to churches and conferences throughout the nation. Read more about the duo’s newest show, Mass Confusion, here.

Brummel has dedicated his life to professional ministry work, presenting at over 1,400 churches and conferences over the past 25 years with his acclaimed “Lighten Up!” presentations. Wilson, an award-winning songwriter and musician, has spent the better part of the past 20 years touring the country music dancehalls and honky-tonks of the nation.

“It’s like my church world collided with Dave’s country world and the result is fresh, inspiring and life-giving music that we feel can help everyone realize that we are all called to grow outside ourselves and love and serve others,” Brummel said.

The album opens with “I Am Called,” a rocking reminder that we are called to follow His will. The next track emphasizes that we – like Christ – are “Blessed, Broken and Given.”

“Open Wide The Doors of Christ” features a congregation-friendly melody with lyrics that drive home the welcoming nature of the church. The meditative and prayerful “Christ Who Lives in Me” is followed by “Lord, Let Your Light Shine On Us,” an upbeat song inspired by Psalm 4.

“We Are What We Receive” reminds us that we are called to the table of the Lord through the gift of Communion. “This project is definitely bigger than ourselves.” Wilson said, “Sometimes you wait for a sign that you are supposed to do something, and you wait and wait… but once you realize you are called to do something, that is your sign.”
