WHY MASS CONFUSION?
The research has been done. People are leaving organized religion. They are leaving the Catholic Faith. What can we do? As Bishop Barron has said, we need to share the beauty of the Church, and then the teaching of the Church.
Doug Brummel and Dave Wilson feel strongly that while there are many valuable ways to evangelize and teach about the Mass, an imaginative setting, filled with laughter, storytelling and music can help take things from a strictly academic setting to a comprehensive one that filters through the mind, heart and soul of those who participate.
“People like to have fun and be engaged,” says Brummel, “and if we can do that AND teach about our Faith at the same time — that is just what we are called to do.”
A LITTLE BACKGROUND
For over 30 years, Doug and his cast of characters have been invited to over 1,200 parishes and conferences across the country, while earning the respect of church leaders as one of the most innovative, creative, engaging and effective multi-generational speakers in the church today.
The last couple of years have been challenging for Doug, as he battled ramifications from West Nile Virus. Now, he is back-in-action and his creativity is better than ever, as he is ready to hit the missionary road again to where God leads.
His is also earning his Master’s Degree in Theology from St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology.
While his Lighten Up Parish Missions continue to be in high demand, he is also debuting a new venture in conjunction with Dave Wilson, “The Doug and Dave Show.”
He treasures his wife Jennifer and their 7 children. They reside in Black Forest, Colo.
An established musician, singer and storyteller, Dave Wilson joins Doug as the co-host of The Doug and Dave Show. Dave is award-winning songwriter and has spent the better part of the past two decades as a touring country music artist.
He currently resides in Colorado Springs, Colo., with his wife, Maggie, and three children.
Together, Doug and Dave have written original music, which sets the stage for this original Catechetical Comedy of sorts. Doug and Dave have always experienced that many people learn and retain a whole lot more if they are engaged and even — dare we say — entertained (after all that is really what entertainment is… a form of engagement).
